The Kitty Clinic Health Requirements for Boarding

We want to make sure your feline friend stays healthy no matter where they are, so we are following updated veterinary guidelines to ensure they're living their best lives as long as pawssible.

Effective 7/10/2023, The Kitty Clinic is putting the following guidelines into effect to ensure the safety, and wellness of our pet guests within our facility. Please note, that if your cat or kitten needs these vaccinations, preventatives, or tests, The Kitty Clinic can accommodate your furry friends needs.

Flea & Tick Prevention
- Now Required Annually
  - These are preventative measures used to protect people & pets from parasitic infestations and infections.

Fecal / Giardia or Fecal DX / Key Screen
- Now Required Every 6 Months
  - Parasitic Infection can infect cats and dogs.
    - Some parasites can also be contagious to people.

Annual Deworming
- Now Required
  - An annual deworming (or equivalent), is a preventative measures used to protect pets, people, and our environment from parasitic infestations.
    - **Verification required at check-in**
    - **Dewormers must protect against roundworm and hookworm**

Distemper Vaccine
- Distemper is a virus and is primarily transmitted through the respiratory secretions of an infected animal.

Rabies Vaccine
- Rabies is a virus and is transmitted through the saliva of an infected animal, usually through a bite.
  - **Can be directly transmitted to people**

Your pet must also need to have tested negative for intestinal parasites within the last 6 months. Verification of the vaccinations and/or negative parasite test within a 6 month period may be requested prior to boarding your pet.

A zoonotic disease, also known as zoonosis, is a type of infectious disease that can be transmitted from your pet to your family. These diseases are caused by pathogens such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites that can be found in animals, many of which show no outward signs.

If your feline friend is due for their vaccinations or intestinal parasite test, you can contact our The Kitty Clinic to schedule a wellness examination.

If your pet is not a current patient with The Kitty Clinic, and just staying as a guest for a duration, please provide us with a copy of your cat or kitten's most recent medical records so we can verify that they are up-to-date.
